After a week-long provincial evaluation camp from June 30 – July 5, 2009, the list was narrowed down from the original 47 athletes to the top 26. The top 26 met Sept. 25 – 27th for the final selection camp before the top 20 were established.

Team training will continue in Calgary on Monday, November 2, with an exhibition game against the Mount Royal University Cougars at the Centennial Arena at 1:00pm before departing for Nationals.

The 2009 National Women’s U18 Hockey Championship will feature 18 games over five days, culminating with the gold medal game on Sunday, November 8. The tournament is host to a total of eight teams, including Team Alberta, Ontario Blue, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Quebec, Atlantic, British Columbia and five-time defending champions Ontario Red.

“With a seventh place finish in the last two tournaments, we (Team Alberta) are looking to re-establish our  high standards and make a stronger finish this year,” said Jenn Lunn, director of operations, Team Alberta.
